GameFly Offers Trade-In Beta Test For Long-Time Members

GameFly has already worked to upgrade their rental service, which means they've offered more specific time labels for games you wish to rent (High Availability, Low Availability, etc.), and even opened up a new distribution center on the East Coast. They continue to make things better, though, as they're now offering a GameFly Trade-In program for long-time members. It's currently in the testing mode, but it should probably become solidified soon.

Basically, you can trade in games you own, which in turn provides you with credit that can be used towards your monthly payment. In other words, you can't trade your games in and get money to buy used games; the credit can only be used for your monthly fee. That's still not a bad deal, though, and the trade-in prices are pretty damn good. We've checked on a few of them, and we were able to get $23 for several high-profile titles (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, for example) and even over $30 for select games like Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Now, you do have to pack and ship your own games, but other than that, you can really only benefit from participating in this program.

Hopefully, this will also increase GameFly's inventory of available titles, which is seriously lacking at times. What you're renting is used in the first place, but we're really hoping that they will test all traded games before sending them out to members. We have to imagine they will. If you've received this beta invite, take advantage, and if not, wait for the official unveiling...which should be soon.
