"1.3 To 1.4 Million" Play CoD4 On Xbox Live Every Day

Sorry Bungie, Infinity Ward is the clearcut winner in the world of Xbox Live multiplayer. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare continues to top the Live chart, as the developers have just announced that CoD4 is dragging in "between 1.2 and 1.3 million users every day," and the PS3's Network numbers are "monstrously huge" as well. (source- GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer)
These numbers come courtesy of game producer Mark Rubin, who further confirmed that Infinity Ward had been hitting those numbers consistently for the past "two or three months." They're able to pull in exact statistics regarding the Xbox 360, but even if they can't for other platforms, they still know the number of CoD4 players online is extremely high.
"There's even more on the other platforms [PS3 and PC], but we just don't have the same numbering system," said Rubin. "Overall, even without the other consoles, we are beating the competition. PS3 numbers are monstrously huge. No other game has come close, either online current, or total unique users in a day."
Well, we certainly believe that. In contrast to their biggest Live competitor, Rubin points us in the direction of Halo 3's official website, where it says that "845,000 to about 1,000,000" per day play online. Yep, that falls well short of CoD4 at this point, doesn't it? Remember, Modern Warfare has sold over 7 million copies so far, and while Rubin couldn't confirm the percentage of those owners who play online, it's still guaranteed to be a "startling number."
"I don't have an exact number for you, but it turns out to be a startling number of people. For a lot this is there first time playing a multiplayer game on console or PC. We're getting really high numbers."
What, you haven't played CoD4 online yet? ...what the heck are you waiting for? Well over a million people per day (on only one platform, mind you) can't be wrong!
